The wonderful Golden Mile monitors are out on the field every Wednesday lunchtime and look forward to seeing as many children as possible out on the school field enjoying their running!
What is The Golden Mile?
Our school participates in a physical activity programme called 'The Golden Mile' which aims to encourage pupils to get fit through running.
We run every Wednesday lunchtime if the weather is kind to us!
The children are doing very well and we are hoping most of them will reach the 10 mile mark or more by the end of the school year.

The Golden Mile is a safe, simple and measurable health & physical activity initiative accessible to all pupils regardless of age or ability. We aim to inspire and encourage your school community through physical activity with the focus on fun, rewarding personal achievement and school competition. We reinforce the message from the Department of Health that children should engage in regular daily physical activity habits across the week, every week all year round.
The Golden Mile is an ALL YEAR ROUND initiative whereby Pupils, Staff and parents can get involved. Simply walk, jog or run around your Golden Mile track within the safety of the school grounds and then use our downloadable resources to help you upload the number of laps your pupil’s achieve. Your interactive School and class pages will do the rest and convert laps into Miles and display the pupil’s progress via graphs, league tables.
Golden Mile encourages regular physical activity habits across the week and carries the message from the department of health that children should engage in regular daily physical activity. That’s why the Golden Mile is such a great product as is ALL YEAR ROUND which promotes.
Golden Mile in your school allows the opportunity for pupils to enjoy being physically active, within the constraints of other pressures such as school learning time.
Regular physical activity is associated with numerous health benefits for Children. This includes reduced body fat and the promotion of healthy weight, enhanced bone and cardio-metabolic health, and will prove to enhanced concentration levels and psychological well-being in your classrooms.
What’s great about the Golden Mile is we’ll help your pupils meet the new UK physical activity guidelines have recently been published by the Government:
“Running or walking regularly is not only good for children’s health, it gives them more energy throughout the day and can inspire more to take up sport for life. If children learn to love being active as they grow up then they’re also more likely to take those good habits through to adulthood. My congratulations to the Golden Mile initiative”
